Message of Prof. Khalid Manzoor Butt, Honorary Secretary, Old Ravians Union, GC University Lahore
Dear Old Ravians,
This is a matter of great satisfaction that Old Ravians organizations are now growing in other parts of the world. Old Ravian scientists, sportsmen, journalists, politicians, educationists and businessmen have excelled and enjoyed good repute in the UK and Europe. They are also an important source of foreign exchange for Pakistan. I believe that this chapter would renew the links of UK and Europe based Old Ravians and provide them good opportunities to meet and interact.
I wish that this chapter would flourish in the UK and also play its role for the betterment of GC University in real terms. There is hardly any reputed educational institution which could progress and have self reliance without the help and support of its alumni. All great western universities like Harvard and Oxford are immensely dependent on their Endowment Funds which have grown mostly with the financial support of their former students. No doubt, the western culture has been exemplary in this regard. Their philanthropists generally and old students particularly are very committed and are regular contributors to the Endowment Funds of their respective institutions. Their Endowment Funds enable the institutions to carry out their developmental projects and meet other expenditures.
If we want to place our Alma Mater in the list of great institutions of the world then we have to come forward and enhance its financial position to help its needy and deserving students and undertake its development projects. This is the only way to make GC University a quality and reputed institution of the world.
I wish all the best to the Old Ravians Association which has undertaken this long-awaited initiative.
Khalid Manzoor Butt
